Find your voice and empower your life with an 8-month Yoga study.

230-Hour Yoga Teacher Training begins January 4th, 2019

Explore the spiritual aspects and therapeutic benefits of Yoga with this 8-month program. We meet as a group for one full weekend per month (Friday 7-9pm & Saturday-Sunday 9am-6pm) to explore Yoga asana anatomy, alignment, breathing meditation, history, Tantra Hatha philosophy, and body energetics. Classes are held at Pure Motion Yoga in Atlanta, GA, and students are encouraged to continue attending classes outside of training weekends.

Whether your intention is to teach or cultivate a personal practice, you will dive deep into the world of Yoga! Students of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds & experience levels are welcome. All that is required is your desire to learn. Upon completion, graduates receive a 230-hour certificate of training and are eligible to register as a 200-hour Yoga Teacher through internationally recognized Yoga Alliance. Program is led by Maria Borghoff (E-RYT, YACEP) alongside Vira Bhava Yoga School.

I entered my YTT with Maria as a seeker, not sure if I wanted to teach or what I would experience, but very curious, wanting to learn more (and more...) about yoga. I found much more than I expected, in ways both challenging and satisfying. I was stimulated and enriched by the readings, classes, and asana instruction and practice, as well as the support and companionship of my peers. I have so much admiration for my mentor and Maria, both of whom were engaging and positive, but honest and constructive instructors. I’m still seeking, but my YTT experience has lead me to more fulfillment through a greater understanding of myself through yoga and the development of my own daily practice. I am so very grateful that I chose this path.

I began Yoga teacher training unsure if I was ready and able to begin the journey. As I learned along the way, we often have to trust ourselves and those that support us, and take a leap of faith into the unknown. Maria opened so many avenues for me to begin to understand my place in the world. Our group built a safe community to ask big questions, dance, sing, play, and practice. More importantly, I feel the training gave me the means to rediscover my truest self. I learned so much and have more questions and wonderings for what is yet to be discovered. I worked times I cried, and felt confused and uncertain of my journey. But a belief that I was on a path to “coming home”, which was cultivated throughout the training, kept me going. The training gave me a strong foundation for my asana practice but I am most grateful for all the other magic that was uncovered and continues to be learned and practiced off the mat.

Yoga Mentor Program

Each training student is paired with a mentor for additional support and encouragement throughout the program. The mentor is a Yoga teacher who has an understanding of the training curriculum and has already begun the journey of teaching. As part of their homework, students connect with their mentor on a monthly basis to observe, attend and assist their classes. The Mentor Program is a unique opportunity that serves to:

+ Support teacher trainees and improve success and participation in the program

+ Encourage trainees to reach their full potential as students and aspiring teachers

+ Help trainees build confidence in their teaching ability and their own unique styles by providing teaching opportunities for teaching, guidance and feedback

+ Develop a sense of belonging and cooperation by connecting students and teachers with each other and the local community

+ Motivate mentors and trainees to grow in their own Yoga practice

+ Offer continuing education and leadership opportunity for current teachers/ professionals
